Kausani is a famous hill station of Uttarakhand located in Bageswar District. Originally it is known as Valna. This Place is famous because Nation’s Father Mahatma Gandhi called it Switzerland of India because of its similar landscape. Kausani: The History
Mahatma Gandhi stayed at Kausani for some time. He was very much inspired by the hygienic environment of this place so he penned his memorable commentary on the ‘Gita-Anashakti Yoga’ at Kausani. The Guesthouse is now known as Anashakti Ashram where Gandhiji penned the Gita-Anashakti Yoga. He loved the enchanting beauty of this place so much that he called it “Switzerland of India”.
Sumitra Nandan Pant, the famous Hindi Poet was born at Kausani. He started carving the beautiful nature of Kausani into the rhymes and shows his love for Mother Nature.
Tourist Attraction at Kausani:
Panoramic view of Himalayas is the most beautiful tourist attraction of Kausani. Anasakti Ashram is another attraction, Pant Museum (place where Sumitra Nandan Pant was born), Lakshmi Ashram (Center dedicated to upliftment of women and social service run by Kumaoni women.), Tea Garden (5 Km on Bageswar Road) and Group of Baijnath Temple (17 Km on Bageswar Road).
