Morning at Kausani


Kausani is a famous hill station of Uttarakhand located in Bageswar District. Originally it is known as Valna. This Place is famous because Nation’s Father Mahatma Gandhi called it Switzerland of India because of its similar landscape. And off-course it is very beautiful, the panoramic view of 350 Km wide Himalaya Range from Kausani is breadth taking. Famous peaks of Himalayas like Nanda Devi, Trisul, Pamchachuli etc are splendid to watch from Kausani.

Distance from Ranikhet:

Kausani is at a distance of 60 Km from Ranikhet and well connected by State Highway. Bus Service is available from Ranikhet towards Kausani Under KMOUL (Kumaon Motors Owners Union Limited) and Uttarakhand Roadways. 

You can also hire a private Taxi available at KMOU Station, Ranikhet.


Bus Timings From Ranikhet to Kausani (KMOU Ltd.)

Direct bus service is available from Ranikhet to Kausani hill station. There are 4 buses available in morning hours from KMOU Station Ranikhet. Timings are 05:30 AM, 08:00 AM, 09:30 AM, and 11:30 AM. These buses takes around 2 hours to reach Kausani. Enjoy the ride at Kumaon Hills. 

The Geography:

Kausani is located at an altitude of 1890 Mtr (6200 ft) above sea level. It is a lush green place with is awesome beauty, the beauty of this place is you will this place takes you to an entirely different world. Climate:

Like Ranikhet, Kausani is also a place that can be visited any time, but it is lush green between July to September. If you want to see some snow action then you must visit this place from December to January.

Winters: Kausani is Chilling in Winters (November, December, January, February) Max Temp. 15° C, Min. Temp. 2° C.

Kausani: The History

Mahatma Gandhi stayed at Kausani for some time. He was very much inspired by the hygienic environment of this place so he penned his memorable commentary on the ‘Gita-Anashakti Yoga’ at Kausani. The Guesthouse is now known as Anashakti Ashram where Gandhiji penned the Gita-Anashakti Yoga. He loved the enchanting beauty of this place so much that he called it “Switzerland of India”.

Sumitra Nandan Pant, the famous Hindi Poet was born at Kausani. He started carving the beautiful nature of Kausani into the rhymes and shows his love for Mother Nature.  

Tourist Attraction at Kausani:

Panoramic view of Himalayas is the most beautiful tourist attraction of Kausani. Anasakti Ashram is another attraction, Pant Museum (place where Sumitra Nandan Pant was born), Lakshmi Ashram (Center dedicated to upliftment of women and social service run by Kumaoni women.), Tea Garden (5 Km on Bageswar Road) and Group of Baijnath Temple (17 Km on Bageswar Road).
